Yoga Nidra / Guided Relaxation

Yoga Nidra is a form of guided relaxation accessible to all. It is usually done lying down but can also be enjoyed sitting.

Yoga Nidra is similar to self-hypnosis and can be used throughout pregnancy for relaxation and as mental preparation for birthing and becoming a parent.

Yoga Nidra can also be used postnatally for relaxation and recovery.

All you require is a comfortable place to lie or sit and simply listen (see Creating Your Nest).

NB: If you are in the third trimester of pregnancy it is recommended that lie on your left side for these practices (see Side-lying Relaxation).
